Mërchen (Marchen)

「We resemble each other」 花弁が降り積もり
「Meet me in Dream」 サヨナラ…眠りに就く

目は開いたまま手は繋いだまま
きっと同じ夢見てずっと離れないから…

tsuki ga ken kudasu kimi no negao
sotto fureta karada wa tsumetaku *

kimi ga boku wo wasurete shimau nara
isso kono te de aisarenai nara…..

hora…itsuka kimi to aruita ano michisae…
tooi omoi deni (mo) naranai **

「a Flower bloom」 sabishisa ni taekirezu
「a Flower withered」 fumitsubusu omoi ga shinu…..

kimi no kioku ni wa boku wa sonzainaku kareta ***
nani mo kamo ga mou iranai yo…

「a Flower bloom」 sabishisa ni taekirezu
「a Flower withered」 fumi tsubusu omoi to
「We resemble each other」 hana ben ga furi tsumori
「Meet me in Dream」 SAYONARA…nemuri ni tsuku

me wa aita mama te wa tsunaida mama
kitto onaji yume mite zutto hanarenai kara…

* In the lyrics the kanji is written. Depending on how it’s read, it means different things. “Mukuro” means “corpse”, while “karada” just means “body”—living or not. It was probably Naoto’s intention to be ambiguous or vague—though I’m leaning towards her choice of this kanji being a gentle way of saying “corpse”.
** When you listen to the song you can hear her say “mo” here, but there is no “mo” character in the lyric book. Its also possible she is really saying nothing (much like “oh” or “whoa”).
*** This part confused me a little, but Ku helped to cear it up. The kanji that are written in the book are
存在, which is pronounced as “sonzai”. However, in the song only the “inaku” part is audible. The phrase together means “without (your) existence”, so the sung version leaves out the word “existence”, sort of a way to emphasize the meaning of the line.

The moon looks down * your sleeping face
The body that was softly touched is cold

If you forget me completely
Even so if I wasn’t forced to love by these hands…..

Hey… even that road that I sometimes walked with you…
Won’t it become a distant memory?

“a Flower bloom” the loneliness can’t finish being endured
“a Flower withered” the sentiments that are trampled die…..

I have been withered by your memory without your existence
There might not be anything I need anymore…

“a Flower bloom” the loneliness can’t finish being endured
“a Flower withered” the sentiments that are trampled and
“We resemble each other” flower petals fall and pile up
“Meet me in Dream” Goodbye… I depart sleepily

Eyes are still open, hands are still tied
Because surely we won’t be separated from the same dream that we see for a long time…

* Whereas we might perceive this phrase to mean the moon is looking down because it’s looking at something below it, this has the connotation in Japanese as well that it’s looking with disdain upon something.
